Day 24- Where we were staying! to somewhere I cant remember how to spell! - Heidelberg

We woke after an excellent sleep and had breakfast, then checked out and travelled and easy half hour to a town which translates to "New Town" where they had markets today, with lots of evert type of produce.
All the salamis pictured were only 3.50 euro each.

Then we travelled on to Heidelberg which is a much bigger tourist detination and you knew it- heaps of japanese and american accents!
Our hotel room is excellent- we asked for views of the church in the square and its worth getting.

The view taken from our dormer windows!
If you are the king and queen, you get to be..... buried under the church floor!

Went for a walk over by the Rhine just down from the hotel, that has a popular bridge and some interesting statues~
Spaz shot of the day! Thank god he didnt do it from the other angle- it was very anatomically correct!

We decided to go up the hill behind the square to the castle on the furnicular railway, and took a tour- in english! about the history of it all. Very interesting your guide too and a chequered history with all the battles, wealth, love, love lost, opulence and decadence.
This is what happens in a 30 year war...
Thinking this statue might be Neptune
One of the walls added later- very artistic
Hows that for a kingly sized vat?

After getting back to the hotel and catching up on 3 days of internet and blog, we went out for dinner to a place that had been recommended to Rudy and Anna- it is a schnitzel house which boasts 101 different types of schnitzels and it was divine and extremely filling!

Had a lovely long walk down the square afterwards.
