Day 6 - Maidstone- Royal Tunbridge Wells

We almost got through the night- well slept till 3am again! but we went back to sleep this time so we are improving on getting the right way up time wise. Had brekky here at the hotel restaurant, then hit the road. It is wet wet wet again today but never mind.

We used the GPS to get us to Staplehurst and Royal Tunbridge Wells. We have named our GPS voice Ory- as she is our all knowing oracle- definitely couldnt find our way without her, although if I hear "at the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit, the 2nd exit" as many times as she said it today, I might strangle her!!
We must be in the roundabout capital of the world, although they are huge and have traffic lights all the way around if they are really big. Only hard bit is there are no road markings once you get on to them and they are often 3 lanes all together- even the english have told us they find it hard to see where to go!

We went through Maidstone then Staplehurst, with lots of oast houses all along the way and lovely tree lined roads. Was very pretty even in the rain.
Got to Tunbridge Wells and with the help of some friendly locals we found our way to the Pallisades shopping area, which we have seen and heard of on tv- a bit of a disappointment though as quite a few of the shops were closed and it was uncovered and freeeezing. Ah well never mind- we are getting used to driving here and we just took our time. We headed back and then got ready to see Sherlie my cousin and her daughter Lucie.

Had our first experience of very narrow roads with cars parked on both sides and needing to back up a hill to park! Then we went out for dinner and a good catch up. Back home and into bed- we are knackered with the late nights but are catching up!
