Day 3 Incheon Seoul- Heathrow London

Spot the theme with the photos! alcohol,

Over to the airport- Incheon is huge, clean and sunny- for the most part all the walls are glass so its really bright and nice. Lots of people but easy- we were directed (3 times) to different check in counters so we wouldnt have to wait. Was good to have been checked in and given our boarding pass right through when we were back in Auckland, so just had to drop our bags.

Boarded the plane, had to sit on the tarmac for an hour as they said the Chinese airspace was congested, so couldn’t take off. Was fine though as they had the air con on full bore. Flight 12 1/2 hours and better than the first one, not so hard and the food was excellent, new seats and again, good staff. Graeme had a sleep after about 4 wines! But they were tiny glasses haha. I discovered their brandy was so smooth, I had to have 3 of them over the flight- it is so good on your tummy so purely medicinal!

Flew over Russia which looked covered in patchy snow and freezing but not a lot else out the window!

We had to do figure 8’s for half an hour at Heathrow as again, congested flight space. That tight banking absolutely does your head in- I remember that from the last time too. Landed and sat on the tarmac for ages waiting to cross the runway after lots of planes took off. Got through the immigration quite quickly, loads of people, cultures and colours. Terminal 4 is a bit of a mess as its being done up, so you have to work your way through but no stress really.

We caught the bus to our hotel no problems and Graeme managed an entire spicy pizza before bed! While I managed a salad and 2 beers. Prices are comparable to home and easy on the pocket compared to when we came with a 3:1 dollar in 2007.

Crashed out after over 24 hours up and woke at 4.45am so not bad. Taking an easy day today, we are going to walk to the carphone place to buy a UK sim card for our phone- about an hour each way so will be good to stretch out sore muscles. Looks cold outside – 2 C according to tv, but nice blue sky.

Perhaps the Chinese airspace was congested with the North Korean missile that crashed and burned on take-off!

Yes, those circuits and bumps with tight turns can do things to the human brain. Good to be on terra firma again huh. Speaking of terra firma, Danni tells us we have earthquakes here in Hamilton often - no wonder I feel strange sometimes!(as well as looking it). This is something she learned at school.

Good to see you made it to the other side. 2 C sounds too cold especially since we has 21 here today. Kym
