Day 29- Santorini

Woke and mooched around for a while- we have slept like logs here. I needed my hair colour touched up so Graeme was my hairdresser as he has done it previously on trips for me, but somehow the ‘mocha’ colour came out fairly black-ish in places and not in others- oh dear…never mind.

We decided to walk down to the Amoudi bay- down below us this morning, where all the donkeys go up and down each day. There are over 250 steps and I can tell you after doing it that each marble step took 3 of our steps to do it – 750 = good work out!
On the way down.....
On the way back up!
Looking back down from the top at where we had come
And we are still smiling!!

Today though was definitely cooler with a lovely breeze and like the greeks, we have learned to walk slowly and just amble along. At the bay there is a small port and 3 or 4 restaurants, so we sat right on the harbour edge and had a lemonade and sat and gazed at the harbour and view.
Down in the harbour.

Funny we saw a young blonde girl walk down to the tiny wharf all dressed up, then she strips down to a g-string bikini and proceeds to lay there in front of everyone! This is where the fishermen come in and the Greek men quite openly leer at women, so she got a bit of attention!

Eggplants and peppers the restaurant was grilling

We climbed the many steps back up- was surprised that I barely broke a sweat, although that climbing was much like our walking each night in Glen Massive! Caught some sun though funnily enough, on the cooler day?

Graeme got us gyros for lunch- yum the way the Greeks make it with thick pita bread, meat, purple onion, tomato, chips and greek yoghurt over it! Then we spent the rest of the day ocean gazing, reading and watched the most stupid movie I have ever seen! After showers we went out for a walk and dinner at a place that had been recommended called Roka. Despite being off the main drag and down a long skinny walkway, it was soon full. The meals are authentic Greek and were delicious- tzatziki with breads, then traditional meatballs and veges and tomato based sauce- nooiice!

We now sit in the fading light ocean gazing Again! Watching all the people from the cruise ship whoa re in to see the sunset- its like Anna said in Germany, when there isn’t anyone speaking English you tend to zone out and its less overwhelming than heaps of people who are speaking in English at once.
Sitting on our verandah looking out

Have put both properties on the market, booked the air tickets, will be there after we've done our UK trip. Oh by the way, where's the best place to buy G-string bikinis - thought I might get myself several ... way to go GG!

lol both of you. This is paradise but its not home and may get a tad boring depending on your disposition! ALthough we might be up to challenge that theory! Cannot believe the weather after the UK and Germany- every day is hot and sunny.
