We woke after a brilliant sleep and can see beautiful clear blue sky through the indoor window of our room! We decided to just take it easy today as we have been on the go for 3 weeks and this is the perfect place to kick back!
We unpacked a bit then Tania who runs the villas came round as the internet wont work. Spent some time trying to sort but it’s the connection through the phone line not to the pc, so will need to wait for a technician and on greek time she said that might be a while. So in the meantime we can use the internet at the local cafĂ© if we buy a drink- no hardship!
The reason we reckon we had no working phone/internet line!
Walked around a bit getting our bearings- it is ‘uber hot already, they said 30C and that its more like their July/August summer temp. Sitting here looking out at the sunshine you wonder how the weather can be so crappy elsewhere?! It is so good – the heat is really helping clear up my sinuses as they were pretty sore on the flights yesterday but they are beginning to feel heaps better after sitting out in the sun this morning.
Our Villa was once the Captains House The upstairs bedroom has a loft window
An old wooden donkey harness in the lounge!
Our little visitor
Walked to the market shop to buy essentials- cereal, milk, chips and ouzo!!!! (As you do). There are little artisans shops everywhere as you wander along the paths, beautiful jewellery and silk clothing that isn’t cheap but very unique- Kym you would love the jewellery here!
We were thinking that perhaps because of where NZers live, we only have the English language whereas here everyone pretty much has, at least 2 languages. Makes me slightly ashamed that we aren’t bi-lingual and rely on other nationalities to be that for us.
Philosophical thinking done, we went back and sat in the sun and soaked up some rays. It is officially 24C on the net but feels way hotter. Had a couple of ouzo and cokes then went out for another wander, you start out to go to a certain shop and an hour later you are still wandering!
We caught up with all our washing as we have the time for it to dry, it was like the old days I would expect- washing them by hand with soap in the basin then wringing them out and putting it all out in the sun to dry! It was funny, a Chinese couple were getting their wedding photos taken on the old castle a way away, down below us and Graeme suddenly thought that his washing might end up in the background lol!
Oops!
Had another ouzo as it was all hard work then we just mooched around until another! wander round as there is just so much to see. The clothing for women is amazing- one offs that are really soft to the touch from the artists who live here but you need about 100€ + for most of them!
We have finished the day with tea and toast for me and toast and 2.59€ rose wine/vinegar for Gray! Then went the 25 metres or so to the famous sunset spot with everyone else, but have to say, although it was pretty it doesn’t beat the ones in Fiji or Morocco- however the tone of the light is really golden.

Looks like Paradise itself - so beautiful the artist in me hurts - if you get what I mean.
Nupstairs? anything to do with nuptials and all that??!! Have another ouzo.
Stunning. This is so on my bucket list. I could live there in a heart beat.
WOW
Tempting to pull all those wires out although you would probably die in the process! What a stunning place to visit. How long are you there for? I love it!
Mum- oops gotta fix that. I was tired after all the ouzos!
Cath we are only here 5 nights but then back to Pepys in Crete where we stayed the first trip which is also amazing (but not quite as stunning as Santorini) for 6 nights
This is definitely your sort of place
The phone lines- I would 'die' if I lost the internet for 5 days cos couldnt contact home!
Oh Cath- Graeme just pointed out something you may NOT like here.... small pipes in Greece so No toilet paper in the toilet. NOT nice!
You both have to make sure you don't dehydrate so keep up the ouzos? As far as the jewellery goes I can do enough damage to the bank account just here in NZ. Loving the blogs. Kym
Hi Denise...
Ahhh! Serious travel jelousy! Those pics bring back the memories... It is a totally awesome place! Enjoy your time on the island!
Be sure to try a feta pie at some point! ha ha probably best after a big night out!
Cheers!
Nathan
Hi Nathan,
will look out for the pie- havent posted the pic where Im holding on to the wall as I walk home after dinner, Im sure the footpaths here make you walk crooked??! Nothing at all to do with the ouzo and mythos beer!
Dins are you sure it was just ouzo and beer that made you walk crooked? (she said with a leer)
