DAY 48 BARCELONA

Had a great sleep last night- didnt hear all the noisy people coming down the hallway that Graeme heard, Love my earplugs!
Had a nice easy day, we walked down Las Ramblas this morning at a leisurely pace- it is a long road with a wide pedestrian path down the middle. There are mimes, acrobats, people being statues and stalls dotted along the road. We walked for about an hour then headed back all tired again at 12pm! Stopped and bought subway- SO nice to have salad again after Morocco! Also bought a couple of cans of burweiser beer from subway too- weird!

It is interesting people watching, there are so many different styles here- Graeme is observing all the boots, we have re-named it 'Barcelona the Boot capital'! Its funny, there are some people that overdo it though- the woman sitting behind Graeme on the plane yesterday he called "deep fried woman" She was so over -brown she was dried out like leather. Dont think being a heavy smoker helped, but she was a little scary looking!!

We went back to the hotel and the internet was working now after needing to be re-booted- couldnt use it last night. So caught up on here then we went up on the roof terrace where there is a pool and had our beers in the sun while the maid cleaned our room.

Then we headed back down Las Ramblas at 4pm and walked about half an hour down to the port area where we were told was the best place to get Paella. Found a nice outdoor restaurant that wasnt too expensive and enjoyed a seafood paella after the waiter moved us, cos men were smoking these Huge cigars next to us. Didnt want to make a fuss but also didnt want to sit in that disgusting strong smell while we ate!

After dinner we wandered back to the hotel and now a bath and bed before heading to the port again for our cruise tomorrow. A nice relaxing day today.

Hi Dee Hi seasoned travellers.

Have just relived morocco with you. The sahara was one of my favourite places, got to sleep under the stars when I was there & the peace & vastness of it made it feel as if time had come to a stand still! Just magical.
Hope you got my reply to your email which I posted on Day 33. Since then the boys have had a fun day for their 3rd birthday, they were right into birthday cake & candles this year, so lots of fun. Have also had Andrew's Aussie Mum staying the last few days so there has been some special times for her with the boys. Took her up to auckland airport today & could easily have lept on a plane too - not meaning to follow the mother-in-law back to Aussie but anywhere you've been of late looks appealing!
Keep working on that tan!
Have fun & safe travels. :)

Hi Sue
Yes got your long email a while back- very impressive length!!! Lol Sounds like you have had a house full of family and lots of fun, the things memories are made of. Your boys are lucky they get 3 sets of grandparents. Especially when Andrews Mum is young and has the energy when she comes over Im sure!!
We are in Sicily today, Malta yesterday on the cruise. All is going well although Graeme is still suffering the effects of a tummy bug that comes and goes, but wont really go. I had it but milder, so we are losing weight I’d say lol.
Re you sleeping in the Sahara- now THAT would have been amazing, cos it was so quiet at sunset we really just wanted to stay!
Will be home soon, will talk then.cya

Claire- you will never have to go up a dress size though lol!
