Days 8-12, 22–26 Sep Sutherland NSW

Tuesday 22nd September. 

Today we’ve veged out as it’s been go, go, go! I decided I would do a deep clean for the kids of their apartment as their life is pretty busy. Started with the laundry and made good progress. Hard for them when the old apartments didn’t have external venting, which makes dust from the dryer spread. Satisfying work  

We walked up to the Thai restaurant up the road this evening and had a meal – very novel to have everything within walking distance and a good meal although we felt extremely full!

Wednesday 23rd September.

Today we drove back down to the southern Highlands again, back to our old stomping ground and visited our old friends. First off was seeing Julie & Chris whose dogs Ellie & Dixie we had looked after when we first offered to care for other people‘s dogs, after we had lost our two in 2022. It was so lovely to see them and their house that they are renovating.

Dixie is the same – she loves being petted like our current schnauzer Paddy🐶. Ellie is now 13 and is in her own world now. As soon as I saw her, my heart clenched as she looks so much like my little Jessie that we lost. It was lovely to see her again as I don’t think I will after this. She sleeps a lot, but I got to sit and stroke her in her bed and give Dixie lots of pats!

Julie made us a lovely lunch and we sat and chatted, before hitting off to visit Deb and Chris our old next-door neighbours in Robertson, and Chris who married Danni and Brad. So great to catch up with them and they are in such good form!we also drove past our old house as we went out – they aren’t into gardens so it isn’t quite looking the same but hopefully they’re happy 

Next we moved on to see Bruno and Raffi, who live down the hill from Deb & Chris.Was great to walk around Raffi‘s garden and chat and catch up one on one, then we all headed to the Robbo pub – Graeme‘s favourite haunting ground for a chicken parma! We sat and talked for ages before heading off back up to Sydney for the night. Graeme is doing a stirling job getting us around everywhere from memory! 

Thursday 24th of September

Today Graeme headed off down to Tallawarra power station, so he could catch up with his old workmates there while I stayed back and got stuck into the cleaning again. He arrived back then we wandered up to town for a late dinner – it’s so good in Sutherland you can walk and get whatever you need. There’s also a Coles supermarket which is so handy.

Friday 25 th September.

We got up later today- just cruising, And then Anne-Marie and Peter, Brad’s parents came and picked us up for lunch and took us to the boatshed cafe which is on an inlet. Had a lovely lunch, then they invited us to go for a walk around the area and a drive to Cronulla, where we walked around the point that looked over the ocean. Very nice afternoon.
