Days 6 ,7, 8…… 15 th - 15th again! & 16th April -The Pacific Ocean

 Day 6 - 15th April

We had a good sleep last night, rocking with the waves of the pacific! Both notice that even though we wake up, we dont have the everyday things on our minds, that generally keep you awake at home. Also very much appreciate being able to get up when you like. Grateful Mum and Dad are keeping the home fires….. & puppies burning, so we can do this ❤️ .

Went to the windjammer cafe for brunch and must have missed the crowds from what we hear- they have a pasta station where you choose what you’d like for sautéed veg and the sauce and they cook it for you- was so nice compared to the standard bulk pasta that’s been out for a while :) .

Graeme was keen to go up and walk on the walking track again, and its a cloudy day so good for a long walk. We did 4kms as its a km round, so pretty big.

They have trivia each day - a lot! So today we went to one with Vicki & Robyn who I mentioned earlier. The theme was.. “if you know the tune”, dance it. Hysterical - especially Graemes Bollywood & Irish dancing ☘️! There were 3 big guys who all got into it, they were very funny. May have been helped by a beverage or two!!

Mooched round reading and writing this blog, is so good for graeme to just sit and be… Thought it would be hard to get into the restaurant for dinner at 6:45pm cos you have to line up (otherwise if you could get a booked spot, you have to commit to it for the entire cruise- and we wanted the freedom). But surprisingly, we got straight in. Got talking to a young girl on her own at the next table. She is a nursing student about to take her finals and has a bit of down time to study, so thought why not do it on a ship? She was lovely and admire her guts to cruise solo 😃.

Decided to push the envelope and actually stay up late for a change haha!! There was a band playing at the glassed in rear of the ship, with rock n roll so went along to that at 10pm - yes 10pm (those who know us will know that is late for us these days 😂 ).

Was really good, spent the night on the dance floor and we won big flashing strobe rings for our great twist! Elvis came for a while then ‘left the building’. The band  “Switched on Band” are good, the lead singer is mesmerising to watch and she has some endurance when she sang and danced for a couple of hours without even puffing! There was only 1 idiot middle aged, roughneck guy who was off his face drunk, falling over, jumping on the stage & running up to people & screaming in their faces? I would have punched him if he had done it to me and I dont hit people! Anyhoo, he wont be feeling too good tomorrow 🤢 .  We will be repeating the 15th April tomorrow as we cross the international date line, so do it twice!

Awesome night out dancing with the band 😃

Day 7 - 15 April again:
Crossed the international dateline today so we are redoing the 15th again - would have been great if it was your birthday today!!  Was lovely to just read and wind down after all the dancing last night and then have a leisurely wake up today. The weather is rough with wind so strong they shut the walking track up on the top deck.
Had continental brekky in our room again, its a treat and keeps a check on not eating masses on offer upstairs. Then I caught up on the blog while graeme read- he is so enjoying being able to concentrate on books and music and not having his head full of work.  Later we went up onto deck 14 and walked around the pools as a substitute track, just to stretch our legs. Everyone is inside today given the weather and we are all hanging up for some sun. We had the first day with beautiful weather, but havent seen the sun since - which just makes you relax more probably.
Stopped as we passed the ice cream man, snowfreezes are complimentary which is the 1st time we have seen that!
Is great having the soda package as you can grab one of many soft drink in the cooler cups and take back to your room, We were on our way when we heard ABBA in the music hall and Graeme suggested we went in. Mama Mia movie was playing, so we crept in and sat down. Such a silly but fun movie to watch. The restaurant ‘ Sorrento’s” was on the way back, so we stopped and got some free pizza each - love this option and its really popular.

Went back to our cabin - 9120! And played cards. Glad I remembered to bring them 😊. Went to the windjammer cafe for dinner, was super quiet, think there are a few seasick people atm. Amazes me with the degree of vertigo I suffer from, that Im pretty good on a rocking ocean!

Day 8 - Sunday 16th April
Slept late we think? Dunno cos the times keep changing, moving forward as we head north and only discovered we were an hour behind when we missed the first hour of the top gun movie today lol! We went upstairs and walked the track as it’s open again- did 4 kms, then grabbed a yoghurt and some fruit and back to our room for Brekky. (I have missed out the donuts we got last night and then steamed them on the kettle this a.m. then put grape jam inside) 😋.

We mooched round today as a bit of a rough cooler day again. Took our books and went up to the adults only solarium areas as its glassed in and read for an hour or so then back to get ready for our specialty dinner at Izumi sushi tonight. it was ok but certainly not the best we have had 🥺. Wandered back through the bars and heard karaoke so popped in and had to listen to that for an hour. Some people were pretty good – some people not, but good on them for having a go!
Walked past the main theatre where they had a lady  playing the violin in the Nigel Kennedy style so much talent. Clocks are moving forward another hour tonight – can’t keep up ha ha!
